Stuart McNarry, a young man from Belfast arrived during the centenary year after a four-year interregnum

During Stuart's ministry there was the first community survey which looked at everything from what people think about church to parking. In 1988 two new youth groups were started - Boy and Girl Challengers and in 1989 about 100 people went on a Church Weekend.

In 1990 John Tucker, an Elder, was inducted as President of the Sussex Baptist Association. 'Faith in Action' and 'After Eights' started. 1991 saw the appointment of David Kemp as the Church Architect and the formation of 'The Welcome Team'. At the end of 1991 Stuart left to take up the post of Pine Forest Baptist Church in Macon, Georgia.
