Friday - Saturday

Today we visited the OM base and a school. We spent the morning in the school. all given a garland as we entered the school grounds, attended their assembly and were then introduced to the teachers.

Friday

The whole team visited each of the classes in turn, before we split into pairs and lead each class. We shared songs and presented the wordless book. Questions were asked by the classes of us and by us of them. We were astonished that they all had to come to school some 2 to 5 km by walking, cycle, scooter or bus, by themselves or with a sibling (no parents), even as young as four years old. None seemed to have had any breakfast.

The school came across as slightly 'regimented' whilst each child being incredibly polite. The children impressed the team with songs and a very good understanding of English, maths, science and 'social' (moral science / humanities).

After this visit, we were introduced to a micro-credit project training women in sewing skills and equipping them for tailoring and design both for the local and international markets.

We had a debrief with OM staff and returned to our hotel for a team debrief and discussion about our time in India. All round an excellent time.

Friday finished with a late night shopping trip to a garment shop.

Saturday

Tomorrow we have a tour of Hyderabad planned, before heading home in the wee hours of Sunday morning - a long day and a long night ahead.
