Buildings

Holland Road Baptist Church was built in the 1880s to seat around 700 people, with a stage at the front, baptism pool and central pulpit.

In 2000 the new church hall building was opened, with rooms designed for children's activities, and an excellent flexible space for meetings and meals. The hall can accommodate and feed 100 people, and the Ark and Attic above are wonderful spaces for children and teenagers. The hall and its kitchen are now in almost constant use by the church and groups from the local community.

Number 65

65 Holland Road is dilapidated townhouse and former YWCA next to the church. In the late 1990s when it came up for sale the church felt God's clear leading to purchase the property, but it is unsafe for any use in its current condition. We are now in the process of beginning a building project to transform the site into a new centre for the church and community.

What Progress Has Been Made?

The plan is to demolish the current ‘number 65', and replace it with a brand new building consisting of 5 floors, which will be used for our expanding children's ministries, and as a community centre, with offices and flexible spaces for events.

The first phase of this work involved knocking down the current toilet block and creating a new larger block to the rear of the building which will be much more accessible. This phase was completed in October 2006

Phase 2 of this project involves demolishing the current `Number 65` while funds are raised to start the main building project. At present we are about to embark on phase 1 and 2 of this project. The building project will likely cost around £1.5 million to complete. Currently around £300K has been raised. We are working with the architect firm located next to the church on Holland Road.
